Social Anxiety

GLOSSARY

An anxiety that arises from the prospect or presence of interpersonal evaluation in real or imagined social settings. People feel social anxiety when they become concerned about how they are being perceived and evaluated by others. Could easily be referred to as “evaluation anxiety.” See also social anxiety disorder. Contrast with shyness.
