Decentering

GLOSSARY

The ability to step outside of one’s immediate experience, thereby changing the very nature of that experience. A meta-cognitive process that entails three interrelated processes: (i) meta-awareness, (ii) disidentification from internal experience, and (iii) reduced reactivity to thought content.
