The tendency to work excessively hard in a compulsive way. Individuals who are workaholics tend to allocate exceptionally much time to work and that they work beyond what is reasonably expected to meet organizational or economic requirements. Workaholism also includes working compulsively – being obsessed with work and persistently and frequently thinking about work, even when not working. Contrast with engagement.
