Negative Emotions (Unpleasant Emotions)

GLOSSARY

The valence (subjective experience, usually in terms in attractiveness or aversiveness) of emotions that is characterized by displeasure, unpleasantness and (typically, but not always) motivates avoidance-type behaviours. Contrast with Positive Emotions (Pleasant Emotions).
