Horror

An emotional state characterized by abnormal physical agitation (shuddering, tingling, screaming) which is caused by a stimuli/ being that is physically and perhaps morally threatening. The threatening stimuli/being has the property of being impure and as such, motivates the desire to avoid touch with the stimuli/being. Two important evaluative beliefs come into play – for a stimuli/being to elicit horror, it must be thought of as being threatening and impure. That is, the target is evaluated in terms of both threat and disgust. Contrast with terror and fear.
