Emotional Expressions Affect How Followers See Leaders
The use of emojis in text messaging is pervasive in modern-day organizations – but they can shape how leaders are perceived by their followers. A recently concluded study by Kim Yeeun
shows how followers’ perceptions of their leaders’ emotional appropriateness, adherence to leadership roles and effectiveness are shaped quite simply by their choice of emoji. Results of this study have been submitted for presentation at the 32nd International Congress of Psychology in July 2020, Prague, Czech Republic.
